Unfortunately, I like to learn the hard way

Another day, no dollars.

When friends do a runner on you after you've treated a virtual freebie with the same zeal you pour into the work you do for top-paying clients, it smarts somewhat.
A former friend contacted me about helping revamp the identity of his social rugby club, ahead of their 10th anniversary. As is my way, I charged him mate's rates but still gave this project my all.
The club committee were all stoked with the results, and beyond excited to put their new brand in action. Unfortunately, said former friend has been dodging emails and calls, and has yet to pay the nominal fee for the identity, more than a year since the project's completion.
I really swung for the fences on this one, and once again learned the hard way that our best efforts can go completely unappreciated.
I won't make the same mistake again.
